TMW: Napoli president wants to keep €35m man as Milan lurk – the details

By Isak Möller -

Since Gennaro Gattuso arrived at Napoli to replace Carlo Ancelotti, Alex Meret has been forced to sit on the bench very often. This has sparked rumours of a potential move elsewhere in the summer.

However, although president De Laurentiis likes Gattuso a lot, they are not on the same page when it comes to Meret. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, there will be a meeting between the two soon to discuss the matter.

In recent weeks, Milan decided to probe the ground for a potential transfer, scanning the market for a Gigio Donnarumma replacement. The reality, though, is that Napoli want to sell Kalidou Koulibaly (for the balance sheet) and not Meret.

Only an offer of €35-40m could convince the Napoli president to change his mind. The meeting with Gattuso should be crucial, as the two will have to make a decision on Meret’s future with the club. Ahead of the Euros, Meret will have to play.
