TMW: Probable Milan XI vs. Genoa – Gabbia out for Kjaer; Donnarumma likely to be ready

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is likely to welcome back two key players from injury for Sunday’s clash against Genoa.

It was confirmed by Lega Serie A earlier today that the game between the Rossoneri and the Rossoblu – originally scheduled for last Sunday – will now be played this coming Sunday at 15:00 CET.

Concentration can now turn to the preparation for the game by both teams, and according to the latest from TMW, Milan boss Stefano Pioli is likely to have Gianluigi Donnarumma back at his disposal.

The 21-year-old sustained an ankle injury in the recent 1-1 draw with Fiorentina but appears to have recovered, though back-up loanee Asmir Begovic is on stand-by.

Centre-back Simon Kjaer is also back after a muscle issue which will send Gabbia to the bench, with the former partnering captain Alessio Romagnoli. Andrea Conti and Theo Hernandez will be the full-backs.

In the middle the duo of Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer will get another run out, with Samu Castillejo, Hakan Calhanoglu and Ante Rebic behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic from right to left.

There are two doubts for Genoa boss Davide Nicola in view of the game at the San Siro. The first concerns the defence and whether to use Romero in the centre alongside Soumaoro and Masiello with Biraschi who would then position himself at right wing-back. Otherwise Biraschi would be in the back three.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Conti, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.
