Following the 3-1 win against Roma, Fikayo Tomori spoke to the media and not only shared his thoughts on the game, but also the mercato that just ended. He made it clear that he always wanted to stay at AC Milan.

Tomori has certainly been in good form lately and Milan might find not selling him was a blessing. In our player ratings for tonight’s game, he was handed a 7.5/10 after making multiple crucial blocks and commanding the edge of the box on most occasions.

After the game, the centre-back spoke to Mediaset (via MilanNews) and shared his thoughts on the important win. He was also asked about the mercato, having been heavily linked with both Juventus and Tottenham, but he made it clear that he always wanted to stay.

You looked like a leader…

“We are all ready to help the team. Today was important, we wanted to go through. After the derby we played a good game, now we are in the semi-final and we are happy.”

You wanted to stay at Milan…

“I’ve been here for 4 years, I’m happy here. In the last few years I haven’t played as well as I wanted, but I feel at home and I want to give my best here.”

How much can Gimenez and Joao Felix help you?

“We had a strong team before, now even more so. I’m happy for Joao and Santi, they can help us and I’m sure we can get where we want in the Coppa Italia and also in the Champions League.”

Milan will take on Empoli this weekend and it remains to be seen if Tomori will start again. Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw have both recovered, so perhaps Sergio Conceicao will give one of them some time on the pitch.

    1. He lost his confidence like Kalulu did under the last seasson of Pioli, they didnt have a Trainer to give them the motivation and heart ! Tomori was set to leave but in the last second it didnt work out, and then I guess he realized what he gonna loose, and Conceicao did perfect by using the momentum to give him the fighting spirit, by saying to him before the Inter Game ‘ I want you to go in the duel 1Vs1 and dont be affraid thats what I want from you and bam its worked like magic.

    2. I think he really needs some veteran leadership back there to get the best from him. His form dropped after Kjaer left, and now with Walker he’s back in form. I know he looks up to Walker and I’m sure that’s pushing him now, I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

  1. I have to say I am beginning to think I was wrong about his mentality. He seemed hot headed and quick to blame others for his mistakes but perhaps he was frustrated with some of the dynamics from previous players and coaches. It’s hard not to root for someone who wants to be at the club I love so much. I hope his good form continues and he keeps on being a leader as this team needs it!

    1. Since the Scudetto season, he’s had to cover for inconsistent teammates, injured teammates leading to him partnering with non CBS in the back (Theo, Calabria, Krunic, etc.) and lack of defensive midfield cover since Kessie left.

One player can only keep up their form for so long. He only started dipping in form since his injury last year. Milan fans just have a short memory.

  2. based on his recent form he is definitely worth more than 25-30m clubs like Juve and Spurs were bidding. He and Pavlovic looked solid, with Gabbia & Thiaw we have quality CBs + Walker who can also operate there. When they are all available, perhaps we can shift to 352 granting Theo & Walker more attacking impetus for future games.

  3. Why I like Tomori he is fast for CB we don’t have that kind of cb everyday Tomori convinced me already during the scudetto year even was he was down I knew he was still a good baller I was thinking he was leaving but the turnaround did good the coach boosted him after putting him back again in the starting lineup.
