Tonali praises new arrivals and declares: “This is the strongest Milan since I arrived”

Sandro Tonali has claimed that the current AC Milan squad are the strongest since he has been at the club, praising the new players for their adaptation.

Milan controlled the tempo of the game against Atalanta for large parts and restricted them to only two shots on target but in the end a point would have to do as Ismael Bennacer’s shot in off the post cancelled out a deflected opener from Ruslan Malinovskyi.

One of the chances to win the game fell to Tonali as his run in behind was found by a perfectly weighted pass from Charles De Ketelaere, however Musso was quick off his line and scrambled the effort.

Tonali spoke to Sky at the end of the game to assess what was a positive performance at a tough stadium but potentially not the right result, with his words relayed by MilanNews.

On the match: “When you play like that, you create and play well, it doesn’t hurt not to win. The important thing is that we reacted, found the goal and that we managed to draw. A defeat would not have been the correct result. Sorry for the draw.”

On the team: “This is the strongest Milan since I arrived, whoever arrives integrates in a few days, learns Italian in a few days and learns our game which I think is the important thing. Let’s not look at the goodbyes that have been there but to the new ones who have arrived who are giving us a great hand.”

In terms of changes, Pioli was able to replace four of his attacking players as Charles De Ketelaere and Olivier Giroud first came on, then Divock Origi and Alexis Saelemaekers. With those changes the attacking pressure increased and Milan got a draw thanks to a pearl from Bennacer.
