Davide Calabria is the latest Milan players to get injured and it wasn’t exactly a minor issue either, as he was forced to surgery yesterday. It was successful, fortunately, and he will be back in one month’s time.
It’s a big blow for Stefano Pioli as Calabria has been a key player for Milan this season, bouncing back from what was a disappointing 2019/20 campaign. Thanks to the management, though, he does have two alternatives for the role.
As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the battle for a starting spot between Diogo Dalot and Pierre Kalulu has already begun. The former seems to be ahead but he has mostly played on the left-hand side this season.
The Frenchman, on the other hand, has shifted between the right-back position and centre-back, due to the Rossoneri’s injuries. Despite his age, he has impressed but it remains to be seen what decision Pioli will make.
