Olivier Giroud is a key player for AC Milan and he certainly showed that in the season opener, after a questionable pre-season. The experienced striker has taken over the role of Zlatan Ibrahimovic completely, as a report highlights.
Ever since Ibrahimovic decided to retire at the start of June, the fans have been wondering who will replace him (or if he will come back as a team manager). But Milan already have the perfect man for the job, as Tuttosport highlights (via MilanNews).
Giroud was brilliant in the opener against Bologna and he continues to be a leader for what is a very young squad. His experience at the top level is unmatched, with the likes of Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez not even coming close.
At the age of 37, he still knows what it takes to perform at the absolute top and that says a lot about his mentality. He has previously said that he’s inspired by Ibrahimovic and that certainly shows, which Milan should be very thankful for.
Off the pitch, the Frenchman also does a lot of work for charities. After the last training session of the 2022/23 season, he left Milanello with his car packed with Milan gear and shirts worn by the players. As the newspaper concludes, he brought this to children’s hospitals in France and he does similar activities often.
Yes Giroud is a wonderful footballer and indeed does do lots of good work for various charities..This is also alway good news to hear.
Yes he is a good example to others and on the pitch he can and will perform at the highest level for a while He still is such a good target man and I have never doubted his ability and it’s it’s been a pleasure watching him play football for different clubs over the years …Technically he is brilliant in and around the 18yard area ,and he knows exactly where to be at the right time ..This is one of the most important attributes of a good striker ..He is so physically strong and a handful for any defender to deal with .
Yes he is my favourite player big time..
I am not surprised at all that he scored against Bologna ,and I expect him to do the same tonight against Torino .We can certainly challenge for honours again this season .
Well said. He does need a hand though – from someone who’s preferably not Belgian.
Agreed
Chukwueze needs more play time
Giroud is the best player in the world
