Tuttosport: Giroud isn’t just a backup at Milan – Pioli has high expectations

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud is just an official announcement away from becoming a Milan player, although the contract was signed yesterday afternoon. The Frenchman is an important addition to the Rossoneri squad for this season.

Giroud met Stefano Pioli for the first time yesterday as the manager was present at Casa Milan for the contract signing. As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Pioli reminded the striker how much he expects from him.

In other words, in Pioli’s mind, Giroud won’t just be a backup at the club. The former Chelsea man appreciated the words and guaranteed the utmost commitment, eager to prove that he still has what it takes at the age of 34.

Furthermore, Giroud has also spoken a lot with the Rossoneri’s CEO Ivan Gazidis, who was in charge of Arsenal when the striker was there. The two have a lot of respect for each other and the hope is that this adventure will be successful.
