Tuttosport: Leao ‘surprised and worried’ about €16.5m fine from Sporting

In addition to his struggles on the pitch, Rafael Leao is now also dealing with a delicate situation off it. As was revealed by Sporting earlier this week, the striker has been ordered to pay a hefty fine to the club.

After the claim was rejected by FIFA, the Portuguese side took the case to CAS, where they got the ruling they wished for. The verdict went against Leao, who will have to pay a €16.5m fine for unlawfully terminating his contract back in 2018.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), the young striker is ‘surprised and worried’ about the sentence. In fact, it’s not even certain that he will make that much in his entire career, highlighting the concern (justified and understandable).

Milan are supporting their player in this situation, as an appeal is expected shortly. In short, the fine makes no sense whatsoever, which is unusual when it comes to verdicts from CAS.
