Tuttosport: Milan could give up Pessina bonuses in order to secure Atalanta star

By Isak Möller -

In addition to a playmaker, Milan also want to reinforce the squad with a new right-winger and several names have been mentioned. Josip Ilicic is one of them, as he wants to leave Atalanta.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanLive), there are no advanced negotiations between Milan and Atalanta as the latter have set a price tag of €8m. This is considered too much by the Rossoneri, especially since Ilicic now is 33-years-old.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are hoping that they can get a discount perhaps in mid-August. They could also propose a different solution to Atalanta: scrap the bonuses related to Matteo Pessina, plus a small compensation.

Pessina has made 59 appearances for Atalanta and as soon as he reaches 100, the 50% resale clause that Milan boast will be removed and the Bergamo side will have to pay €3m. To unlock the Ilicic deal, therefore, the Rossoneri could give up the €3m.

  1. Yeah well Pessina’s clause is redundant anyway. Atalanta will never consider reselling him back to us. They’ll wait until 100 appearances are completed or else they’d price us out so If they agree to reduce the amount for Ilicic then yeah it’s a fair deal

  2. Excellent deal! Who would prefer Pessina, a European champion, our academy product, over a 33 years old? WTF? Just get him using the 50% clause and forget Ilicic.

  3. We began by “Some experience is needed for our young team”. I am feeling like “We don’t want young Italians, we like retiring Europeans”.
