Tuttosport: Milan draw up three-man defensive shortlist for January

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan leadership have three potential defensive targets in mind ahead of the upcoming winter mercato, a report claims.

We reported last month that Milan are firmly in the market for a central defender after it was officially confirmed Leo Duarte will be out until at least March.

An official club statement revealed that Duarte underwent an operation at the Alfredson Tendon Clinic in Umeå to treat an achilles tendon problem.

With Mattia Caldara unlikely to feature before the New Year, Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban have been forced into action to sign a centre-back in January.

According to Thursday’s edition of Tuttosport – as cited by MilanNews.it – Milan currently have three names on their shortlist to fill exactly that spot.

Jean-Clair Todibo is one of them, with SportMediaset reporting on Wednesday that an €8million bid has been placed by Milan, who are awaiting Barcelona’s response.

The French teenager is joined by Juventus duo Merih Demiral and Daniele Rugani. Calciomercato.com reported that Milan had scouts at Bayer-Juve in the Champions League on Wednesday night as Maurizio Sarri deployed both as starters.

Demiral reportedly has a price tag of €30m amid interest from three Premier League sides.
