Tuttosport: Milan will keep academy product to replace disappointing Chelsea loanee

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are expected to make some changes to their squad this summer and the first step is to get rid of the outcasts. Tiemoue Bakayoko is one of them, and his replacement has already been lined up.

The former Monaco midfielder arrived on a two-year loan from Chelsea this summer, with an option/obligation to buy included. Failing to impress, Milan are now expected to cut the loan spell short and send him back to Chelsea.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan and Stefano Pioli have already decided the replacement: Tommaso Pobega. The academy product impressed during his loan spell at Torino this past season, now ready for the big leap.

Pobega actually came close to remaining ahead of this past season, but was sent out on loan at the last minute to guarantee playing time. He’s also expected to get a pay rise, currently on €500k per year until 2025.

In any case, it’s becoming very clear that Bakayoko won’t be a part of the squad next season.

  1. Looking at italian national team, i see 2 interesting things(maybe bcs Mancini played with odd lineup). #1 Pobega was subbed on instead of barella, not sure this is clear indicator he is *better*, but he is good enough to play against germany. #2 Florenzi started over Calabria. All that needs to be said.
