Tuttosport: Milan hold talks with Jovic’s agent – sale could fund striker move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held talks with the agent of Luka Jovic over a potential sale as they continue to pursue Tammy Abraham, according to a report.

Milan secured the signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer but there have been a number of reports from reliable sources claiming that the management are looking for another striker.

Gianluca Di Marzio even stated a few days ago that the new head coach Paulo Fonseca is pushing for Milan to sign Tammy Abraham from Roma this summer, especially now that Niclas Fullkrug is no longer an option.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan have not given up on the idea of signing the Englishman, but for now the negotiations with the Giallorrosi are at a standstill because the Rossoneri must first sell Luka Jovic.

On that topic, there have been contacts in recent days with the agent of the Serbian – Fali Ramadani – to discuss the possible farewell of his client. That would free up wages and a spot in the squad, while generating a transfer fee too.

Jovic has found himself in a strange situation whereby his expiring deal with Milan was renewed for another year, but Fonseca seems to want to bet on another option to be Morata’s deputy. The former Eintracht Frankfurt man scored against Barcelona in the final USA friendly.

  1. Milan is Jovic’s last chance to play in a big club, why would he move to Turkish league or yet another small team?

I find it hard to believe as well that there is someone willing to pay any significant money for him (meaning more than 5mil which could make any difference for Milan), while just 10 months ago literally nobody wanted him for free and Fiorentina get rid of him last day of mercato for literally 0 euro.

    1. He doesn’t seem to care about playing time or competing with other strikers in milan, he’s a hardworking professional who collects his paychecks, and there are a lot of clubs outside the top 5 leagues that suit him especially in turkey or some mid table team in the saudi league that’s willing to buy.

  2. It’s no reasonable option.

Because, Jovic arrived in free transfer. So he’s cost is only his salary. And Jovic made greater impact than Rebic and Origi together, season before Jovics arrival.

Then we shouldn’t forget Okafor, who can be used as central forward.

Because if Fonseca going to keep Saelemaekers and use Pulisic as central attacking midfielder like it was Brahim before, attacking positions are well covered.

Roma asks huge amount to have small capital gain on player who is often injured and on greater salary.

So I think Milan can only do loan option and target different player positions.

  3. Keep Jovic and just pay Monaco 30 mil for Fofana.

Its gonna cost the same as selling Jovic for 10 mil and buying Abraham for 25 and Kone for 15…

    1. 30 mil for a player with one year left is not good business. That’s why we don’t want to pay too much. We can talk with him in winter if they don’t want to sell him for our price now or United can have him.

  4. It’s obvious when we compare the season Jovic has had with that of Abraham, Jovic is better.
Pioli didn’t trust him that much last season because he was not his choice and he still proved him wrong with the goal contributions.
He deserves another chance to redeem himself. He has shown an improvement from the preseason tournament. The coach should give him an opportunity if he doesn’t fit in well then he can offload him in January. Moreover Milan won’t make any loss on him since he arrived on a free.
I don’t see Abraham in this current Milan team gelling in he will only deform the system already built. Jovic has adapted and improved just like we’ve seen with chukwueze. They all deserve a greater role as well as Adli and Musah

  5. So much disrespect here for a player of Jovics calibre. I’d much rather have him ready to come and net a crucial goal rather then see that shyster Abraham in the treatment room for months on end. Whoever gets Jovic fairplay to them show the man more respect ffs!!! Mind the gap….

  6. Treating your players (employess) this way gives a bad image. That won’t help harmony in the dressing room or attracting players in future.

Whatever you may think of him as a player, he is also a human being. He was renewed weeks ago and now they want to sell him, very distasteful. He could have decided his own future if they didn’t want him.

    Morata
    Okafor
    Jovic

Leave it at that unless they are going to spend big bucks on a start striker

    1. This!!
Exactly my feelings. Same as to what they did Romero. He knew they bought him strictly for capital gain. It’s rubbing people the wrong way.
Also, we don’t need more players in attack. We already have great subs as seen even last game when Jovic scored. I don’t understand why tinkering with something that works makes any sense

  7. we dont need abrham what kind of eyes does milan have that we dont the last 2 tseasons what hgas been impressive with abraham

  8. Is Abraham better than Jovic? How come no other club in the league is talking about him. For me, I don’t know what the coach sees in him. But, if Fonseca needs him desperately, we should get him on a loan, while keeping Jovic. We can’t afford another Origi. What happens if Morata gets injured? Milan needs a good striker.

  9. I have no issue with Abraham, I only av issue with Roma management that proving “hard to get” over a player they don’t need.

I mean you should even be grateful that a club(big club for that matter) is interested in him.

Maybe Fonseca sees what we fans couldn’t see in Tammy, but in my opinion, Okafor and Jovic are doing what is needed of them and I rate them more than Tammy himself

  10. Roma need to get 30 mil for Tammy in order to avoid a loss. THIRTY MIL. That’s mad given his form and injury record…

It would be madness for Milan not to take him on loan first to see if he holds up …
