Lucas Paqueta looks set to leave AC Milan before the start of next season as the Rossoneri already have his replacement in mind.
That is according to Tuttosport (via MilanLive), who report that directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will make decisions on the market based around Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swede has raised the level of many players since his arrival, but Paquetà is not one of them and now the Brazilian appears to be on the fringes of the club’s plans.
There have not been any concrete offers from other clubs yet for Paqueta, the paper adds, so Milan would like to use him as a counterpart in a deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
If Paquetà were to leave, Milan would need to sign a replacement. Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina appears to be the main option as there was a meeting with his agent Giuseppe Riso earlier in the week.
Milan sold Pessina to La Dea three years ago as part of the Andrea Conti deal, but kept 50% of the future resale, so in theory they would be able to buy him at half the price.
Hellas Verona – where he spent the year on loan – have the opportunity to buy him outright, but then Atalanta can use a buy-back clause instantly.
Gian Piero Gasperini is evaluating if it is the right move or not to keep him in the squad, and it cannot be excluded that he can test him in preseason before making a final decision.
