Tuttosport: Origi to miss pre-season amid injury – when he should be back

By Isak Möller -

Divock Origi has signed a four-year deal with AC Milan and the transfer was announced by the club on Tuesday. The fans won’t get to see him on the pitch later this month, though, as he’s currently recovering from an injury.

The Belgian striker picked up a muscle injury at the end of May and he’s working hard to recover from it. That’s partly why his medical with Milan was delayed, allowing him to arrive in a slightly better condition.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Origi will miss Milan’s pre-season friendlies later this month. The goal is to be recovered for the opening game of the Serie A season, against Udinese at San Siro on August 13.

Most likely, Olivier Giroud will be the starting striker then and it remains to be seen whom Pioli will opt for on a weekly basis. Origi, of course, can also play on the left-wing and he could thus also offload Rafael Leao.
