Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s renewal is now all but official, and a report claims that Milan are hoping it will push two other key stars towards signing a new deal too.
There is nothing more important at the moment for the Milan management than the renewal of the players who are due to expire on June 30th – namely Gigio Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The situation surrounding the Swede has unlocked and soon he will sign, but the same cannot be said of those of the goalkeeper and the attacking midfielder who are currently on standby.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning how Paolo Maldini, Ricky Massara and Ivan Gazidis hope that the imminent extension of Ibra will also lead to those of Gigio and Calhanoglu, who for the moment have not yet said yes to the offers that have been tabled in front of them.
The fact Zlatan is staying for another year is proof that the Rossoneri’s project is important and ambitious, as per sources close to the management, and the hope is that a domino effect of sorts is triggered involving Donnarumma and Calhanoglu.
Gigio has never hidden his desire to extend with Milan, as well as the Turkey international, but for now the signatures on the new contracts have not yet arrived. Milan have offered €8m net per season to the goalkeeper and €4m plus bonuses to the attacking midfielder, now it’s up to them to show that they really want to stay.
