Tuttosport: Two returnees and a suspension – Pioli makes his decisions ahead of Benevento trip

By Oliver Fisher -

After spending the a short Christmas break with their families, the AC Milan squad have reconvened at Milanello to get ready for the trip to Benevento.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports, head coach Stefano Pioli will still have to do without several injured players such as Ibrahimovic, Bennacer, Castillejo and Gabbia, but he can be happy about the return of two very key players in Simon Kjaer and Franck Kessie.

The paper claims that Kjaer returned yesterday to train with the rest of the group and therefore can be considered ready for the match against Benevento, while Kessie missed the last match against Lazio due to suspension and will also return.

However, in addition to the injured players there will be another very significant absence in Campania – namely that of Theo Hernandez – who racked up too many yellow cards and will therefore be suspended.

With the French absent, Diogo Dalot will act as the left-back. Rafael Leao will be the centre-forward, supported by the trident of starting midfielders formed of Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu and Rebic.
