Tuttosport: ‘Working on the attack’ – what Milan have tasked Moncada with back home

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan have travelled to America for their second consecutive tour of the States, but a report has suggested that Geoffrey Moncada has remained at home to work on some signings.

It is going to be a busy window for the management, and they have already made one capture – Alvaro Morata for €13 million. However, it does not end there, on the incoming and outgoing fronts.

Currently, it seems that two deals are being prioritised, and a report from this morning suggested that both deals are in a good place. Additionally, we cannot forget the ongoing situation with Youssouf Fofana.

Nevertheless, there is another area that is being worked on, specifically by Monacada, who has remained in Milan, as Tuttosport (via Milan News) reports.

Yesterday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giorgio Furlani departed for America alongside the squad and Franco Baresi, but the technical director has stayed put to work on deals, with the mercato needing some ‘acceleration’.

He has not been left with an empty task sheet, though, and there is a focus for him, and that is securing a new striker, more specifically, Niclas Fullkrug. The report suggests that whilst he will have other tasks, his priority is to keep the contact with Borussia Dortmund ongoing, with the aim of finding a solution.

    1. Management in free fall!
Furlani is on holidays and away from the damage they have created at home in the transfer market.
The best thing for Furlani to do is hand in his resignation and leave Milan to someone better who can get the job done with professionalism and skill.

They are now rushing things just like last season to get someone to fill striker position and midfield and centerback. This means getting not the best for Milan but just someone to cover their own shortfalls.

Where are the true Milan supporters to voice their dismay of what’s going on with Milan management strategy failure?
Another season of confusion and disaster in chasing Inter and the rest of SeriaA!
The Milan faithful deserve better from a club as big as Milan. Cardinale what is going on and what are you doing about this car crash waiting to happen again?

        1. But seriously how do you never question a system that keeps failing?

You seem to prefer to spend time arbitrarily rating players than ever questioning why so many top footballers are failing?

A system that has seen Italy fail to qualify for world cups.

All we get is “Italy doesn’t produce players anymore” with nobody questioning why?

And then those people just nodding along as we once again sign multiple players for the same position

And then those same people will then criticise players who struggle because of a lack of playing time or coherence.

Every single summer it’s the same thing.

But I strongly suspect people seem to enjoy the transfer market over actual football.

That’s why once the actual football starts all we get is moaning even after wins.

People just don’t seem to enjoy the football.

Maybe we need a new sport that it’s just wheeling and dealing on the transfer market

      1. There’s nothing unusual about this summer or Milan

This is entirely typical of what most clubs do especially in Serie A and have been dining for the past 15 years at least including Maldini.

The transfer market is chaos. There’s planning. It’s just wheeling and dealing like the stock exchange.

The clubs who manage to stay relatively calm and focused generally do the best. These are usual the Spanish teams who generally focus on key signings and building on a core squad.

Milan have been one of the worst for the past 15 years including with our obsession with signing multiple players for the same position especially strikers.

How many times have we signed multiple strikers and watching them all struggle?

How many strikers have we ruined?

        It’s just deja vu.

  1. Less than a month serie a will start and we have just morata as a new player. When Romano write a news about manutd or Juve agreed on terms with one player next day the player take a photo with the kit but we are working on players even before the window open and get nothing

  2. I’ve got to point out, GENERALLY, and other than a few exceptions, all clubs across the globe are having these slow-burn issues with the mercato – due to both the Euros, and the Copa America.

The short break between those tournaments and the new season, coupled with players also needing time off to physically rest, has slowed down the entire market – IT’S NOT JUST PER NOI, trust me.

  3. I think from last season mercato, it is clear that Milan target only players that would cost not more £22 million. That is the maximum to be spent on any player. This is the policy strategy whether we like it or not. That is why pushed Maldini out.
