AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta appears to have taken a veiled swipe at head coach Marco Giampaolo.
The 22-year-old midfielder joined the Rossoneri from Flamengo for €35million back in January and has so far struggled to adapt to life under Giampaolo.
He was benched for the second game of the season against Brescia and was hauled off at half time in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Hellas Verona.
The Milan boss told DAZN (via Football Italia) after the game against the former that Paqueta ‘needs to be a little less Brazilian at times’ in reference to his style of play.
He then discussed the player’s best role after the Hellas win (via MilanNews), but Paqueta has seemingly hit back, posting an Instagram story stating that he is ‘proud to be Brazilian’.
Paquetá on insta: proud of being Brazilian
Is this a dig at Giampaolo for his comments about Paque being too disorganized and “too Brazilian”? pic.twitter.com/DmoDgZXfn4
