After a difficult game injury-wise for Mike Maignan, many had questioned if he would be able to feature in the Derby della Madonnina, and today some good news has emerged for AC Milan fans.
In the early stages of the game against Liverpool, Maignan seemed to be struggling after a goal-kick with an issue in his leg. Although not enough to substitute him at the time, the goalkeeper continued to struggle with the problem throughout the first half.
It was not until the start of the second half when he was taken off the field, and the issue was due to a heavy collision which probably aggravated the earlier issue. Worryingly, the 29-year-old left the field in clear discomfort and worries about his condition began.
However, there is no need to fear as Antonio Vitiello has reported that the Frenchman has been with the group in training today, rather than training by himself or not training at all which is very positive news for the Diavolo.
It is worth noting that this is his 10th injury, though, even if it was not a more serious issue. With Milan currently engaging in contract talks, the question has been asked about his reliability.
That’s reassuring. Because I’d rather Maignan in the goal when we lose the derby than Torriani. Poor kid would end up with PTSD.
Look at that belly… Suck in it. Good lord
