Vitiello: Milan’s clauses to extend Jovic’s contract explained

By Ben Dixon -

There are several ideas regarding AC Milan’s striker department next season, and whilst there are numerous suggestions that the club will spend big on a new striker in the summer, there are reports about what could be done with the options they already have available.

All signs point in the direction of Milan signing a new striker in the summer. However, there is a need to think carefully about their current options. As has been reported, there is uncertainty regarding Olivier Giroud’s future. As a result, the club need to ensure they have quality cover.

In recent weeks and months, Luka Jovic has proved he is more than capable of being that player for the Rossoneri. Therefore, exploring the contract options available to the club is a must to ensure they are not left red-faced.

The current idea, as reported by Antonio Vitiello on MilanNews, is to extend his contract by another season, given they have the yearly option to extend his deal until 2027, should they wish to do so.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that the terms can be renegotiated regarding the length of the deal and finances. If the Rossoneri wish to, they may change the contract to offer him stability and more money to reflect his value.

  1. Close the deal with Jovic as early as possible. Don’t be too complacent because he’s looking easy to sign and free. The same to Pioli ,give the guy more minutes!. If he was some young overhyped player arrived for 45 mil with this goal rate everyone would be going crazy about him and coward Pioli willing be playing him much more regardless Girouds form.

    1. Well… The minute Leao was given his extension his level dropped significantly. That happened with others too. Why rush it? Milan have the option to extend it so he cannot leave before Milan makes the decision on the second year. Make him earn his second year by scoring vital goals from February to May and THEN extend the contract.
