Strahinja Pavlovic didn’t have the best of games despite AC Milan winning 3-1 against Bologna last night. As such, there might be some selection doubts ahead of the Coppa Italia final next week.
Pavlovic made his fifth consecutive start in the league yesterday, playing to the left in Milan’s back three, and thus got the confidence from Sergio Conceicao once again. However, just like against Genoa, he ended up making a costly mistake.
At the Marassi, he marked Matteo Gabbia’s man (unnecessarily) just before Genoa’s goal and yesterday, he lost the battle against Riccardo Orsolini. It must be said that the latter did really well, but Pavlovic didn’t do enough early on to stop him in the 1v1.
Unfortunately, it’s not the first time that Pavlovic has made an error of judgment in a decisive moment, so perhaps some doubts are starting to creep in. Of course, he usually adds a lot in the build-up with his ability to power forward and offer support, but we didn’t see much of that yesterday either.
Kyle Walker came off the bench in the second half and while some have suggested that Milan reverted to a four-man backline, it actually looked like he played to the right in the back three. With Tomori back, as such, Conceicao might opt for Walker to the right and Tomori to the left, with Pavlovic on the bench.
It would be a bold move considering consistency has been the name of the game in the winning run, but it might be a necessary gamble. Walker also has a lot of experience in such big games so it might be useful to have him on the pitch, but not at the expense of Alex Jimenez.
Kyle Walker, his salary and all the women he is shagging need to leave the club after this deal is over as well.
As long as he is playing well, who cares how many women, he is shahging.
Pls walker to the right and Tomori to the left will be the best pls Milan
Honestly, Pavlovic never really took off. He has stamina and grinta but that doesn’t compensate enough for the lack of his football IQ. He’s caught out of position far too many times and is responsible for many cheap goals this season. Kinda like Emerson.
Pavlovic has been immense for us this season. Each and every one of our defenders have had multiple brain fart moments and so it doesn’t make sense to single him out. The only defender this season who has had a steadier go on the pitch has been Gabbia.
