Watch: Giroud sends France through to the semi-finals with a lovely header

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud managed to get on the scoresheet for France against England this evening and thus sent them through to the semi-finals of the World Cup. Theo Hernandez didn’t have the same success, though, but we’ll get to that.

Especially during his time at Milan, Giroud has been known for really stepping up when it matters and that was the case this evening as well. Just a minute after a great strike from him was saved, he got the chance again and headed it past the goalkeeper.

Theo Hernandez got lucky shortly after as he committed a foul on Mason Mount inside the box, and the referee pointed to the spot. Harry Kane, however, missed the penalty and thus graced the Milan left-back.

France will now take on Morocco in the semi-finals, a game in which they are clear favourites even if Morocco have done really well.

  1. Deflected off the England defender, to be fair. But Giroud looked like a threat every time the ball came into the box. He is currently the best finisher in world football.

  2. Something about Maguire that annoys me. Tomori if he was on the team would have faired much better. Super happy to see our men advance. Can’t wait to see them back at A. C. and hear the crowd roar
