Watch: Massara arrives at mercato inauguration with a smile on his face

By Isak Möller -

Ricky Massara, the sporting director of AC Milan, has arrived at Grand Hotel in Rimini for the annual mercato inauguration. Based on the videos that have been published, he’s in a good mood.

Massara and Paolo Maldini are on the verge of renewing with Milan and the official announcement could arrive very soon. It’s not exactly strange, therefore, that Massara looked in a good mood after a few weeks of uncertainty.

The current deals will expire at midnight, meaning Milan really waited until the last minute to get these renewals done. (Featured pic courtesy of Davide Lusinga).

  1. Can someone explain to me how the market opens tomorrow when players have been being signed across Europe since June 10th?

    1. The transfer window was opened on 10th of June, but I think the ceremony is traditionaly on that date, as before covid it was 1st of July every year.

    2. Premier League window opened on June 10th. Clubs can agree on transfers before the window kens but they will not become official and the player can’t join the new side until the window opens. The window opens tomorrow for the leagues other than EPL. This is why as I’ve said before nothing is OFFICIAL until the window is open and pen can be put to paper. Anyone losing their heads over the summer mercato prior to 7/1 is wasting their energy.

        1. Let’s see where the chips lie on September 1st before we deem the window a failure. This ownership and management team brought us a Scudetto in just a few seasons. I’d say they at least deserve the benefit of the doubt for the summer mercato at least.

        1. Clubs can make deals for the transfer of contracted players during the summer but no transfers can take place until July 1st. This is a brute fact, like gravity—-with which you should be well acquainted because of the apparent number of times you’ve been dropped on your head. Criticizing Milan management for not securing any signings before the window has even opened is asinine. And using the examples of the handful of 100m signings by clubs exponentially wealthier than Milan is idiotic.

  2. This is what I’m thinking. I hope we find out who our actual targets are and how successful we’ve been getting them. Hope some covert shits been happening on the quiet

    1. Yeah you can negotiate his salary demand from 22m euro nett to 4m euro nett . Maybe he will throw your contract offer to trash bin. He is mercenary and only want big money also injury prone, most likely he will go to rich EPL club

  3. Can’t stand Ousmane Dembele — he has talent; but he’s so inconsistent and can be quite lazy and/or lacks focus often times.

I’d rather have Moussa Dembele, than Ousmane. 😉
