Watch: Tonali discusses ‘strange’ Milan win over Empoli and his quick throw-in

By Isak Möller -

Sandro Tonali played the entire game for Milan against Empoli and was very happy with the win of the Rossoneri. However, he also stated that the injuries suffered have taken some joy from the result.

The midfielder played a decent game and was involved in a lot of physical battles, just like his colleague Ismael Bennacer. He played a crucial part in the first goal with a quick throw-in, but otherwise was just solid.

Speaking to MilanTV (see full interview below with subtitles), Tonali shared his thoughts on the game and the injuries sustained.

“It was a strange game after we took the lead. We played a great game yet we couldn’t find a breakthrough. But once we broke the deadline we conceded in the last few minutes, which was a devastating blow.

“However, the goal sparked a positive reaction as we regrouped and were determined to win the game at all costs. On the first goal, I played a quick throw-in to Leao, which was something you can’t prepare for. We also had the strength to score the third goal.

“I’m happy that we won but all those injuries take the gloss off it a bit. I feel sorry for Simon, Alex and Davide but our main focus now is to prepare as best we can for the upcoming clash. Sadly, injuries are part of the game,” he stated.
