Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have both given their approval to the idea of Igli Tare arriving to be the new sporting director.
That is according to Calciomercato.com, who claim that the current technical director and senior advisor are supportive of the idea of welcoming Tare to the management, after the news emerged of a meeting with CEO Giorgio Furlani yesterday.
Why is this the case? For Moncada, it would see him make a return to his comfort zone: he would go back to being the chief scout, therefore away from the cameras and more focused on what he does best. Not only that, but he and Tare have ‘a relationship of great trust and mutual respect’.
Ibrahimovic is on the same wavelength and it is no surprise, given that he was the first to put forward the candidacy of Tare as the ideal profile to take on the role of sporting director earlier in the year, even meeting him in London.
Whoever ends up getting the job will have five big issues to tackle straight away, as Sky outlined. There is a squad to evaluate that has under-performed this year, a new head coach to appoint and some renewals to reflect on.
Both of these guys should not be allowed to make choices or have opinions. Their choices so far have not been memorable.
All these speculations don’t mean anything when concrete plans are not being laid.
