Allegri insists Inter are Scudetto favourites over Milan amid ‘easier schedule’ and ‘confidence boost’

By Isak Möller -

Max Allegri, the former Milan manager, and his Juventus failed to come away with any points from their game against Inter yesterday despite many chances. A game that has more or less ruled them out of the Scudetto race.

The Bianconeri are now seven points behind Milan and Napoli in first place, which could increase to ten points tonight as the Rossoneri will face Bologna. One could argue that they are out of the race as a result of yesterday’s loss.

In his post-match interview, Allegri was asked about the Scudetto race and gave his take on which team is the favourite to win. Inter have the easier schedule on paper, which prompted the manager to say the Nerazzurri.

“Inter remain favourites for the Scudetto, the fact that the schedule is much easier than that of Milan and Napoli is enough. Had they lost tonight, everything would have changed, but tonight’s victory will be a great confidence boost for them,” he said as cited by MilanNews.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the race will be but it’s clear that it will be a very exciting one. A lot can happen in this season finale and Milan will be looking to assert themselves tonight.

  1. Nah. Inter will finish on the 4th position. They will experience at least 2 draws and 1 defeat in the clashes left.
There are only two teams to fight for Scudetto: AC Milan and Napoli.

  2. Keeping this narrative of Inter being the favorites can play to Milan’s advantage, and shift some of the pressure.
Inter are still the defending champions with a game in hand. Their win yesterday, regardless of how bad they played, might trigger a comeback, at least in terms of results.
Milan’s schedule is relatively easier in the next 4 matches, that is why we need to win all of them starting today.

  3. Millan can’t win the scudetto with Dumbo Coach Pioli.

With a credible coach like Conte or Allegri, Milan would have been Champions for 2 consecutive seasons.
