Ancelotti believes Milan ‘made a mistake’ sacking Maldini: “Sending away a piece of history”

Carlo Ancelotti believes that AC Milan made a mistake by sacking Paolo Maldini as the technical director of the club.

Less than 48 hours after the end of the 2022-23 season, Maldini and Ricky Massara were sacked as the technical and sporting director respectively, arousing questions about the plans moving forward.

There continues to be debate among the Milan fan base about whether it was the right decision, though it would be fair to say that the Rossoneri have been far from stable since that day.

Ancelotti was interviewed on Rai 2 last night and he was asked about the sacking of Maldini, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Real Madrid are the most important club in the world and here the history is very much alive. Sending Maldini away, with all the defects he may have, is sending away a piece of history. Paolo is a man of football and represents Milan. They made a mistake in sending him away,” he said.

Ancelotti also recently compared Maldini to Luka Modric in the sense that they are ‘everything a footballer should be’ in terms of their professionalism and longevity.

Meanwhile, there were even reports in Spain during the week that Milan have held talks over bringing ‘Don Carlo’ back if he were to leave Real Madrid.

  1. Football experts, coaches and legends: “it was a mistake sacking Maldini”

Common Gerryboy couch expert: “Bullsh*t, Maldini bad”

    1. It’s hard to imagine anyone who following this team since Berlusconi and seeing how maldini completely changed the face of milan and brought us back from the grave and onto the world stage only to have it completely dismantled for profit not see how valuable this maldini was.

      These guys are fools

    2. It’s mostly new American fans i think that supported sacking maldini. They think football is like baseball, NBA or NFL.

  2. Apparently Furlani spoke to Ancelotti hehehe Just show that is fake news. The Milan legends took note of how Maldini was fired. Our precious game is also about respect! This not American sports! This is a global sport!

  3. Everyone that knows and follows football and milan knows that it was a mistake. Gerry will learn that in the hard way, when he starts bleeding money.

  4. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
No wait let me see that again 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

So Ancelotti is returning to work with grade c players overall in a third tier league and don’t forget our new SPORTING DIRECTORS WORKING ON A BUDGET and that’s before we discuss his wages oh just one more thing privately on his own he’ll tell you exactly what’s wrong with Milan and it will go further than Maldini.
    # Get Elliot / Redbird out.

    1. I don’t blame Elliot because they grabbed the club from the hands of Chinese and bought Maldini in.

The only mistake they did was they sold it to Gerry but Elliot never had the intention to run a club, they just wanted to increase the worth and sell it.

I wish they sold it to a better guy or held it for a few for years with Maldini in.

      1. What are you blabbing about you donkey.? 100M from where? your arse?? Go back to bed son, the grown ups are talking

  5. Sacchi and Ancelotti nailed it!

I doubt Ancelotti wants to coach this Milan with low salary when Gerry and his clowns doesn’t respect Milan history.

There’s plenty of big clubs who wants Ancelotti and he will choose them over Milan.

  6. One thing’s for sure, Maldini is like forex trading, and the Singers like a shrewd trader. Maldini keeps making them profit whether in the Club or out.

  7. maldini blew it, wasted 100 million on worthless players. Ibra and moncada should get the same treatment. but stop with sucking up to maldini.

you cant be accepting his mistakes just because he is a legend.

    1. I know you are a senseless half wit.

But try do keep up been a half wit with truths ey.
You don’t have to fabricate lies to be a buffoon alright. Now go to your room little man and reflect on what you’ve done a how you can be an even bigger tool 😁😉

Wasted a 100 millions on players. If only🤣😂🤣🤣 Maldini had that much. We would be making additions in trophies, maybe even an 8th UCL.

  8. And ppl on the threads on this site still have the audacity to say otherwise. It was incomprehensible then as it is now. It was one of the most tone deaf thing to have happened at the club especially the way it happened.

  9. Don Carlo is right.

Maldini – a legendary club icon – was a defining and enduring symbol of AC Milan. His unceremonious dismissal for telling the owner the truth as to what needed to be done to build a great team that would be able to compete at the highest levels in Italy and Europe was a very foolish mistake – a huge blow to the club’s identity.

AC Milan is a revered global cultural institution – not a sterile and soulless fungible. You mess about with its unique history, personality, and individuality at your peril.

De Zerbi would be a good appointment as coach. But he’ll end up in the same bad place as Fonseca and Conceicao if the squad isn’t strengthened with the addition of several world-class players.

AC Milan’s problems begin and end at the very top with the owner. To resurrect the club as a force in world football, Cardinale must restore its Italian identity by bringing in some top Italian players to serve as the core of the team; respect its traditional red and black shirt colors; not put profit ahead of sporting success as the club’s primary goal; and build a new stadium with Inter on the sacred San Siro site as soon as possible, amongst other steps that need to be taken urgently.

And yes, he must eat humble pie and bring Maldini back. Maldini the Martyr – not Ibrahimovich the Itinerant – is Milan. Maldini’s Second Coming will help usher in a new Golden Age.
