During Thursday’s Serie A matchup against Spal Stefano Pioli’s last substitute was Giacomo Bonaventura, who had been out of action for the Rossoneri for a long period of time and returned to the field at the San Siro after more than a year. And the midfielder received a warm welcome for the AC Milan fans at the stadium.

The Italian midfielder’s last appearance at the San Siro was on October 25 in the Rossoneri’s 1-2 loss against Real Betis. After that, he suffered a knee injury and had to undergo surgery and is now slowly returning back to action for Stefano Pioli’s team.

Another step was his substitution in the midweek fixture against Spal during which, as mentioned, he was welcomed very well by the fans at the San Siro.

Bonaventura took the time to thank the people at the stadium for the welcome on his Instagram account, posting a video of him coming on as a story: “Thanks to all the fans for the wonderful welcome! Coming back to play at the San Siro was a great thrill.”
