On the eve of Milan-Fiorentina, Daniele Bonera spoke to the media at the usual press conference as Stefano Pioli is still COVID-19 positive. Among other things, he shared an update on the injured players.
Rafael Leao, who injured himself while on international duty, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will both miss the clash. The Swede limped off the pitch in the 3-1 win against Napoli and although his injury isn’t serious, he will miss a few more games.
As for the Portuguese youngster, the recovery is proceeding in the right direction, which Bonera confirmed during the press conference (as cited by MilanNews). For both players, next week will be important to understand the situation.
“Leao? He had a check-up this morning, it went pretty well, the doctors are happy with the progress, he will have a new check-up mid-next week.
“Ibrahimovic? He will be evaluated next week, he’s in a good mood, he makes us hope for a return as soon as possible,” he stated.
Tomorrow, Ante Rebic will start up front and Brahim Diaz will cover for him on the left flank. Unfortunately, Ismael Bennacer has also sustained a minor injury and will most likely miss tomorrow’s game, with Sandro Tonali set to step in.
