Brescia starlet reflects on past Milan snub and praises ‘determined’ Gattuso

By Nikita Fesyukov -

Sandro Tonali is one of the brightest talents in world football at the moment and is considered by many the future of Italian football. His fandom of AC Milan is well known but what is perhaps not is the fact that the youngster underwent a trial at the club in the past.

“Lombardia Uno was affiliated with Milan. Every two or three months five or six children were called to Vismara, where the club’s youth players train,” the 20-year-old told Sportweek (via milanlive.it).

“If they rejected me? I can’t say they rejected me. They didn’t really take me into consideration. Maybe I was too young.”

The midfield starlet also took the time to reaffirm his idolization of former Milan player and coach Gennaro Gattuso.

“I was struck by his determination and generosity. Had he divided the determination he had by ten, there would be enough left to fill all his teammates. He wasn’t afraid of anyone,” Tonali added.

The Brescia star is currently one of the most demanded players on the transfer market, with many teams, including Milan, interested in his services. However, as reported by Sky Italia and our correspondent Vito Angele recently, Tonali seems to be on the verge of joining cross-city rivals Inter Milan, who are in negotiations with Brescia to try and complete a deal for the midfielder.

This could come as a surprise to many, considering Tonali’s aforementioned love for the Rossoneri colours which he openly admitted in an interview with Corriere della Sera (via football-italia.net) in April.
