Calhanoglu confident after ‘great’ first leg vs. Man Utd: “Everyone feels the importance”

By Isak Möller -

After the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, Milan will be looking to advance to the next round of Europa League, taking on Man Utd this evening. With a lousy home record, however, they need a good performance to win.

With several players out injured, albeit with Ismael Bennacer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in the squad, the situation is tough as it is for Stefano Pioli’s men. Hakan Calhanoglu is one of the players that need to step up, considering his qualities.

The No.10 hasn’t been himself since recovering from COVID and now is the time to regain some form, having been so important in the first half of the season, In an interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews), he spoke about the task at hand.

On the match…

“Everyone feels the importance of this match, we want to continue on this path, we need it because Milan must always remain at the top.”

On the situation…

“In the first leg we played a great match, at home we want to do our best to get through to the next round.”

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 and the Rossoneri have a slight advantage thanks to their away goal. All Man Utd need is a goal, though, and the situation would be completely different. Maximum focus is thus required.

  1. obviously you didn’t! didn’t influence the game in any way whatsoever. The team needs a new midfielder, someone that is consistent if we want to play in CL
