Capello urges Milan fans to be patient with new signings: “It took Zidane six months”

By Isak Möller -

The World Cup break came at a good time for AC Milan as they have struggled a bit slightly, just about getting the win against Fiorentina. Some of the new signings have been criticised, something Fabio Capello doesn’t like.

Charles De Ketelaere is perhaps the one that has caught the most heat in recent weeks, which is understandable given his €35m price tag. The likes of Sergino Dest, Yacine Adli and Divock Origi have also been criticised, but perhaps less because they were cheaper operations.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Fabio Capello shared his thoughts on the new Milan signings. He highlighted the fact that time is naturally needed for them to adapt, as it’s very different no matter what club you come from.

“The mercato? I’m a bit late to comment on this but some players have been questioned, for example De Ketelaere. There are players that were able to grow in silence like Calabria, Theo and others, getting time to understand what Milan is.

“De Ketelaere and the other new arrivals haven’t got the same treatment. It took Zidane six months to show his value, let’s wait for them and let’s not criticize them right away,” he concluded.

All the players mentioned above, apart from Yacine Adli, will get the chance to regain some confidence at the World Cup. Milan need them to come back stronger for the second half of the season.

  1. Mr Capello, I don’t think the glory hunter fans, the ones who keeps criticizing CDK / new players and wants instant results, have the patience for waiting.

  2. Its childish to point fingers at cdk he just had a change of environment he will come out good with time….give cdk a break let him breath I am sure come next season he will be come blazing…..true fans appreciate their players and staff regardless of outcomes….we have seen the bad or worst times and enjoyed last season as well so let’s support and have faith in our boys….let me be very clear atleast milan isn’t splashing cash like some good trophy clubs of billionaires…..we have reach this height will our hard work and intelligence forza milan

  3. I think what kept him more down is that our players missing his assists. I think those could have boosted his confidence he going down a little bit now but guy can improve surely
