CM: Mandzukic desperate for a positive season finale amid Milan renewal clause

By Isak Möller -

Mario Mandzukic was brought in during the January transfer window to cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has struggled with a few injuries this season. However, he got injured himself, putting his future in danger.

The 34-year-old hadn’t played for a long time and even though Milan took things slow, he picked up an injury and he has missed 11 games thus far. Therefore, as Calciomercato.com point out, he’s desperate for a positive season finale.

Ten games to prove that he deserves to stay at the club and also help the Rossoneri finish in a good position. Mandzukic will earn €1.8m for the six months and there is a renewal clause included, which will be activated if they qualify for the Champions League.

The race is still very open and Milan need Mandzukic for the season finale, as his experience can help this young team a lot. No doubt, the parties will discuss the renewal in the summer, even if it technically gets activated with UCL.
