CM: Milan came close to signing Nancy starlet – why the deal broke down

By Isak Möller -

Romain Faivre wasn’t the only player that nearly made the move from France to AC Milan this summer. Warren Bondo, currently at Nancy, seemed to be just one step away from the Rossoneri as well.

The midfielder is just 17-years-old and has been on Milan’s radar for quite some time now. It’s not exactly a surprise, given that the Rossoneri focus a lot on youth in their project and have identified many targets in France.

According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara made an offer to Nancy for Bondo, amounting to €700K plus bonuses. The deal seemed imminent but as we know now, the Ligue 2 side kept asking for €2m.

Therefore, the move never materialised but it seems it could still happen in the future. Chief scout Geoffrey Moncada will be keeping his eyes on the youngster, that’s for sure, so the rumours of a move might emerge again come January or next summer.
