CM: Milan could attempt to sign Atalanta star for €6m if Calhanoglu leaves

By Isak Möller -

HakanCalhanoglu hasn’t renewed his contract with Milan and it seems he could leave for free in the summer, not entirely happy with the treatment of the fans. Therefore, the Rossoneri would need to sign a replacement.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, one hypothesis leads to Josip Ilicic. The Atalanta star isn’t exactly in line with Elliott Management’s project, with an age of 33, but he’s an experienced player and could be a low-cost opportunity.

Should Calhanoglu leave, then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could try to secure Ilicic for a fee of €4-6m. It would be similar to the deal that saw Papu Gomez join Sevilla during the January transfer window.

In terms of the salary, the playmaker currently earns €1.8m per season and Milan would be able to satisfy the demands. Having said that, it’s possible that Atalanta will ask for a higher transfer fee to part ways with their star.
