CM: Milan eye Real Madrid flop – why Arsenal and Leicester may have the advantage

By Isak Möller -

Although the current season is still ongoing, AC Milan are already making plans for the next one. Ralf Rangnick is expected to lead the youth revolution at the club and will surely be looking to make some signings.

According to Calciomercato.com, the German manager has added Luka Jovic to his transfer wish list as the replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Despite the rough season at Real Madrid, Rangnick is convinced that he can revive the striker.

The Bernabeu side’s request starts at €50m, which is the figure they need to avoid a loss on the player. Milan, on the other hand, are ready to put a two-year loan with an option to buy on the table, which ultimately could be beneficial for both sides.

Jovic is intrigued by the idea of relaunching his career with the Milan shirt after a complicated year. However, the interest from the Premier League can’t be ignored, as the likes of Arsenal and Leicester can offer more economically attractive solutions.

The €5m per year that the Serbian currently earns is considered too much by Milan, who would ask the player to take a pay cut. They have an excellent relationship with his agent Fali Ramadani and could exploit options to minimize the pay cut.
