CM: Milan and Ibrahimovic pushing for a second team as Primavera stars shine

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan’s Primavera side has done very well this season under the guidance of Ignazio Abate, with some players even making the jump to the first team. As a report highlights, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now keen on setting up a B/second team for the Rossoneri.

Abate’s boys have dropped off in the league recently, now sitting in 7th place, but top three is just six points away. Furthermore, they knocked Real Madrid out of the UEFA Youth League the other week to clinch their spot in the semi-finals (second consecutive year).

As highlighted by Calciomerato.com, Milan’s Primavera players have certainly impressed and this is also reflected in the international call-ups. Longoni, Cappelletti, Sala, Liberali and Camarda are with Italy’s U17 team for the Euro qualifiers, while Bakoune, Magni and Scotti are protagonists for the U18’s upcoming friendlies.

Bartesaghi, Zeroli and Sia, meanwhile, are with the U19 to seal a spot in this summer’s Euros for that age class. Terracciano is with the U20 side, while Colombo is aiming to help Italy secure qualification for the U21 Euros next summer.

In short, a lot of Milan players have been called up for Italy’s youth sides and Ibrahimovic is now keen on setting up the second/B-team for the Rossoneri. They have already probed the ground for the Breda stadium in Sesto San Giovanni, which is currently used by Pro Sesto.

This is where Milan’s second team would play their games, but another hurdle to overcome is that a slot needs to open up in Serie C. The Rossoneri will thus have to wait until the end of the season to see if a current side cannot register for the next campaign, which can often happen due to financial difficulties.

Ibrahimovic and Milan know that the Primavera youngster could take that crucial step much faster, should they be able to play against more experienced players week in and week out. Therefore, with the backing of the American owners, the Rossoneri are pushing for this.

  1. This is absolutely necessary to get this done but after looking up the stadium it doesnt really make much sense to use that one because the stadium is used for a multitude of teams. Pro Sesto, inter women and inter primavera and is even used for american football. I have a difficult time seeing how that would be feasible unless some of the other teams plans to play a different place.

  2. Honestly Pioli does not know how to evaluate is team and to know their weakness we don’t need a striker what we need is two perfect attacking midfield once we have this Acmilan striker will score goals which I can assure you but if want to sign a striker then let’s sell out jovic and let’s sign leao deputy and sell tomori, thiaw, and Kjaer then we sign only two defenders that’s all
