CM: The truth about Milan’s interest in Atalanta midfielder as clause remains active

By Isak Möller -

Matteo Pessina impressed many last season in Serie A, just like the entire Hellas Verona squad, performing on a high level week in week out. He certainly caught the attention of the big clubs, including Milan.

However, as Calciomercato.com reports, everything changed on the final matchday as the midfielder suffered a serious knee injury. A cruciate ligament tear was ruled out but due to a traumatic dislocation, the recovery time was (is) still long.

Pessina is still recovering and this, as mentioned, is what held back suitors such as Milan. The Rossoneri had contacts with Atalanta several times at the beginning of the season, also because of the 50% resale clause in their favour.

This, of course, would have allowed the Rossoneri to sign him for half the price. Due to the injury, though, Milan decided to take a step back for now but they will surely be interested if another offer arrives for the player.
