CorSera: €35m man to stay at Milan as Gazidis blocks Bernardeschi swap – the key reason

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has rejected the notion of a swap deal between AC Milan and Juventus involving Lucas Paqueta, according to a report.

Di Marzio stated on Friday night that the Paquetà-Bernardeschi exchange is actually more than just paper talk, describing it as “a possible option” between now and Friday’s 8pm deadline (CET).

Fabio Paratici essentially took Bernardeschi off the market, but TMW believed something was still cooking as they claimed that Milan would welcome Bernardeschi, while Juve are in turn interested in Paqueta as they have a tactical gap in the role.

According to il Corriere della Sera though – as cited by MilanNews.it – Lucas Paqueta will remain at Milan unless there are late twists in the window.

The newspaper claims that Fiorentina made an enquiry for the Brazilian, who joined just a year ago from Flamengo for €35m, while Ivan Gazidis opposed the exchange with Bernardeschi because of the Italy international’s salary (€4.5m net per season).
