CorSera: Giampaolo ‘seriously considered’ benching Piatek

By Isak Möller -

An important clash awaits for AC Milan this evening, taking on Genoa away from home. Three points are a must, but given the Rossoneri’s recent form, they could struggle to claim what normally would be a relatively comfortable win.

Giampaolo’s men have struggled to find the back of the net thus far, bagging just two goals from open play in six games. Therefore, a change is certainly needed up front, whether it concerns personnel or tactics.

According to Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews.it), the manager ‘seriously considered’ benching Piatek, who has failed to engage successfully with his teammates in open play. In fact, his two goals came from the penalty spot.

However, even though it was close, Giampaolo opted to continue with the Polish striker as he knows how good he can be for the team once he gets going, per the newspaper. Then again, there is little time to work with for the former Sampdoria boss.
