CorSera: Why Milan have decided against moves for Ibrahimovic and Mandzukic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not interested in signing strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Mandzukic in January, according to a report.

We recently revealed via our mercato expert Vito Angele that the Rossoneri’s owners Elliott Management are ready to provide funds to add more experience to the squad in the winter market.

One player who has been constantly linked in that regard in Ibrahimovic, who left Milan for Paris Saint-Germain back in 2012.

Over the weekend, Spanish outlet Marca made the shock claim that Zlatan is ‘likely to return to Milan for another spell’ despite other sources saying Manchester United and Bologna are in talks.

Meanwhile, il Giornale reported last month that the Diavolo have agreed personal terms with Mandzukic and that Juve have given their blessing for the Croatia international to join in January, again despite links with United.

Il Corriere della Sera have offered an update though, and claim that although Krzysztof Piatek and Rafael Leao are ‘struggling’ for the time being, Milan have discarded the idea of signing Ibrahimovic and Mandzukic.

This is because they are considered ‘too bulky’ and difficult to place in a team that does not want to drop Piatek or Leao and instead wants them to grow.
