CorSport: Latest on Milan’s injuries – trio close in on return and Calabria’s recovery accelerates

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan need as many bodies as possible for the final nine league games of this rollercoaster season, and the latest injury updates have arrived.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) has offered the latest from the treatment room at Milanello. Milan will try to recover some injured players for Saturday’s game in Parma, but Davide Calabria will not be one of them even though the full-back’s rehabilitation after his minor knee surgery seems to be going well.

It seems that Calabria could already return to training with the rest of the squad from next week after early projections that he would only be ready at the end of April, therefore his recovery appears to be accelerating.

Centre-back Alessio Romagnoli is ready to grit his teeth and recover for the game at the weekend. While Milan do not want to risk their captain, Romagnoli should return to work with the squad in the next few days and therefore could be available.

In addition, the two forwards Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao are likely to be among the players called up for the game at the Stadio Tardini. Both have been out for a few weeks with a foot problem for Diaz and a hamstring injury for Leao.

Mario Mandzukic – who should be the extra weapon for the season finale – is still in doubt as his muscular condition is not yet at its best.
