CorSport: Now or never for Pioli and his men – the derby’s significance is clear

By Isak Möller -

In less than eight hours, the Derby Della Madonnina will kick-off at San Siro and it should be a very good game. AC Milan and Inter are both fighting for the Scudetto but that race could change significantly depending on the result.

The Nerazzurri are currently four points ahead of their rivals (with one game in hand) and thus a win would put them seven points clear. A gap that Milan cannot afford, meaning they need to get at least a draw from tonight’s clash.

This was highlighted in today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), cutting straight to the point by stating that it’s the last chance for the Rossoneri. Stefano Pioli and his men are at a crossroads.

The manager has seemingly decided to start Franck Kessie at No.10, as the newspaper continues, which is a tactical move to try to surprise Inter. It’s useless to deny, however, that he will suffer without the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic in such a big game.
