Costacurta brands Milan, Inter and Napoli as ‘imperfect’ and discusses European struggles

The three teams that are battling for the Scudetto this season are AC Milan, Napoli and Inter, with just four points separating them currently. As highlighted by Alessandro Costacurta, they have slipped a lot lately.

Inter and Napoli won their last games but Milan only managed a 0-0 draw against Bologna. It’s a result that normally would punish you a lot but thanks to Inter and Napoli’s slip-ups in the weeks prior, they got away with it.

Speaking to Corriere Dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Milan legend Costacurta shared his thoughts on the three Scudetto contenders. He stated that the imperfection we have seen lately can be positive in a sense, but is a to be avoided in the long run.

“Milan, Inter and Napoli are all imperfect. So something surprising happens every weekend. This can be positive, in a way. However, if we [Serie A] want to become great again, we need more solid teams.

“In England, City and Liverpool almost always win because they are the strongest. Here Milan didn’t beat Bologna, Napoli struggled against Udinese and Inter lost at home to Sassuolo. This means that they will never go too far in European competitions,” he stated.

Milan, as we know, were knocked out in the group stage of the Champions League this season and Inter made it to the Round of 16. Napoli, meanwhile, were knocked out of the Round of 32 of the Europa League.
