Di Marzio says Milan have ‘not given up’ on Sanches due to ‘alliance with Lille’

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that AC Milan have not given up on Renato Sanches because of their good relationship with Lille.

Speaking during the Calciomercato L’Orignale show on Sky Sport (via Milan News), Di Marzio discussed a couple of Milan’s current transfer dealings but focused on the Sanches situation.

He stresses that the Rossoneri have not given up on the chance to sign the Portuguese midfielder and they are hoping that their good relationship with Lille can pay dividends in the end.

“Then there is the discourse related to Renato Sanches, Milan have not given up at all because of an alliance with Lille,” the journalist said.

He also added that Lille would actually prefer to sell him to Milan but the financially lucrative offer from Paris Saint Germain has turned the head of the midfielder.

“Lille prefers to sell him to Milan while the player continues to flirt with PSG because they offer more money for the wage and more money to the agent,” Di Marzio said.

“We will have to see if in the end this resistance of Lille, who want to give him to Milan, will reward the attempts of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara who have been going ahead on Renato Sanches for almost a year.”

The other deal that Di Marzio discussed was the possible move for Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech which could have to wait until a sale is made and the Charles De Ketelaere deal is secured from Club Brugge.

“We need to understand if, when the agreement for De Ketelaere is reached, Milan will also move forward for Ziyech or if they will prefer to wait for some other exit,” he said.
