In the last few weeks, Milan have been linked with several midfielders for the holding role, seemingly keen on adding one more player to an already strong department. However, their primary target is heading elsewhere.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have taken the most concrete steps to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea. The 26-year-old has been linked with Milan all summer and even seemed very close at more than one point.
The negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea are proceeding quickly on the basis of a dry loan. In fact, if an agreement is reached in the next few hours, then Bakayoko could undergo his medical tests between today and tomorrow.
In other words, Milan are set to miss out and you could argue that it’s for the best, seeing as we already have Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali. Furthermore, it looks like Rade Krunic will remain at the club after all.
