Leonardo left AC Milan at the end of the 2018-19 season and now wants to get one over on his former employers by bringing Gianluigi Donnarumma to PSG.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio on Wednesday night, the Ligue 1 giants are interested in signing Donnarumma this summer and have opened negotiations accordingly.
Milan will ask for Areola from PSG in return, who while a good keeper in his own right would be a step down for Milan in terms of quality.
Gigio is just turned 20 years old and already has amassed over 150 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has also represented the Italian national team at all youth levels and recently on the senior squad.
The reliable journalist reports that Donnarumma is valued at €50million in these negotiations, while Areola – who made 32 appearances in all competitions for PSG last season – is valued at €30m, meaning the deal would need the Parisians to stump up a €20m cash sum too.
Di Marzio went on to state that Donnarumma’s value is only €50m due to the fact he has two years left on his Milan contract and there is no contract extension talks ongoing, nor are there any plans for any.
In addition, he claims that it is PSG and Raiola’s idea to include Areola in the deal as the former would secure an upgrade in that position and bring the cost of the deal down, while the latter does not want two of his clients fighting for the same spot.
Recent reports suggested that a meeting between agent Mino Raiola and Milan has taken place, during which it was made clear that Donnarumma wishes to remain with the Rossoneri.
