Di Stefano says Ibrahimovic must assess future with Milan after Furlani’s statement

Giorgio Furlani travelled to New York and came back with all the power, proving above all to Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he’s the man in charge. As such, the Swede will have to asses his future at AC Milan.

Ibrahimovic was hired by Gerry Cardinale and RedBird as a ‘Senior Advisor to the AC Milan ownership’. In other words, he’s not technically hired by the Rossoneri and this season, there has been a lot of confusion about his role and powers.

As highlighted by Peppe Di Stefano on Sky Italia, Furlani put his foot down during the trip to New York and Cardinale renewed his trust in the CEO. Compared to before, there is now a clear hierarchy as Furlani has the final say and not Ibrahimovic, who previously was on the same level as the CEO.

Therefore, as the journalist continues, Swede will have to assess his role and the future with Milan. If he can accept being subordinate to Furlani, then he can still offer the Rossoneri a lot but then again, he would have to accept such an outcome.

Currently, Ibrahimovic is struggling with the flu and thus hasn’t been present at Milanello for the last few days. It remains to be seen if he will be present at San Siro for Milan-Como tomorrow.

  1. 1. Ibra has zero relevance or competence to help Milan in any way.
    2. Ibra is not replacement for Maldini’s stature.
    3. The only thing he’s OK for is PR – and even at that it has to be controlled because all his outbursts, interviews and photo shoots are either idiotic or just poorly timed.
    4. Please keep this man off SocMedia
    5. Please keep this man as far away from Milan as possible altogether …

    1. Yea, it’s not been good. It’s depressing to see his saddened face in the stands every week. Used to be able to cut to Maldini, Leonardo, and Boban, along with Baresi (the latter doesn’t seem to attend as much as before maybe due to age idk). Now it’s just sad Ibra with his hair and the dark circles around his eyes. He looks like he should be doing a Singer/Songwriter night at a Starbucks not managing a major football club.

      1. Maldini proved himself and played a key role in bringing milan back to winning scudetto and even going back to be a regular in CL.

Zlatan proved that he is not ready for management positions, since he joined the other clowns in management Milan’s form started plummeting faster than his nose leads the way in a head-first dive! 📉👃😄

        1. Exactly

He bought key players that won us the league Tonali, tomori, thaiw, kalulu, Theo, leao etc.

In 3 season we won the league and a UCL semi

          1. Foool,
Replace Thiaw with Zlatan and get some sense.

Thiaw and Scudetto 2022 in one sentence?
How much to discredit Zlatan for your Italian god.

        1. I guess so asdf, in case you play in that sandbox(not judging…). I believe a lot of ppl. That hate on Zlatan, forget that He is actually the one who brought Rossoneri back to winning ways ON THE FKG. Pitch !!! Not rubbing elbows w. Corporate 🎩

      2. I’m not calling for Maldini to come back. I want someone competent and experienced to guide Milan to where it belongs.

I’m saying Cardinale failed in hiring Ibra to fill Maldini’s void.

      3. I repeat:
        MALDINI BUILT THIS FVXKING CLUB!

Our last Scudetto had Maldini as a Director and a certain Zlatan was our main striker. Oh, I forgot, Zlatan is shit, or better still Zlatan isn’t Italian.

        Forza MALDINI the super hero!!!

      4. I repeat: MALDINI BUILT THIS FVXKING CLUB!

Our last Scudetto had Maldini as a Director and a certain Zlatan was our main striker. Oh, I forgot, Zlatan is sheeet, or better still Zlatan isn’t Italian. Forza MALDINI the super hero!!!

  2. Yes, I also think Furlani will get the boot during next season. He is incompetent to lead anything, if I remember correctly he was just working with Gazidis when Milan was doing much better.

    1. He’s a finance guy and a very competent one. Which is where his focus needs to stay.

But he doesn’t need to be making major footballing decisions like hiring a coach or signing players.

Hire a known, proven SD and get out of the way.

    1. Lest you forget,

When Pioli had already been figured out by other managers, it was Furlani and Gazidis who tried to salvage the situation by bringing in Ralf Rangnick, but it was your darling Maldini and Boban who were against it.

And because we luckily won the league, Maldini extended Pioli’s contract absolutely clouded by emotions.
Don’t hate on Furlani buddy, Maldini set himself up to be fired.

Look, stop fooled by the nepotism that exists in Italy.

Look around the world, look at the best run clubs Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and the rest, how many former players would you find in management positions?
Because, football is big business with emotions aside, a great player doesn’t necessarily translate to a great Director.

Look at Inter Milan, Atalanta and the rest, tell me if they have Vieri as Sporting Director. They hire competence over emotions and sentiments.

Look, our next SD has to be an experienced man with evidence and track record to show, instead of looking for former players to fill. As far as I am concerned, in terms of management, both Zlatan and Maldini are mediocres or novices as fvck. Let no one come on this blog to transition a player’s glory to a Director’s green horn.

      I rest my case.
