Diaz names key factor in win vs. Fiorentina and discusses goal: “It was a poacher’s goal”

By Isak Möller -

Brahim Diaz got the chance from start today, over Rade Krunic as well as Jens Petter Hauge, and he responded with a crucial goal in the second half to level things up. Milan went on to win, claiming three important points.

The Real Madrid loanee has offered mixed performances since his arrival in the summer and although this outing had its ups and downs, he was decisive when it mattered. In addition to the goal, he was behind the winner as well.

In an interview with MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Diaz spoke about the game and his goal, which was his first since September in the league and December in all comps. He was rightfully very pleased.

It was not easy to react after Thursday…

“We knew we were going to face a very strong opponent. In the second half, we moved the ball a lot more, we put them in difficulty and in the end, we managed to win the game.”

Do you feel better in the middle?

“The harmony in the second half was excellent, I play where the coach wants me to.”

The goal…

“As I often say to my family, a goal is always a goal, it was a poacher’s goal. I’m always happy to help the team, we have to continue like this.”

With the win, Milan took advantage of the fact that Juventus lost to Benevento earlier today, meaning they can leapfrog the Rossoneri even with a win vs. Napoli. Very important for Stefano Pioli’s men, of course.
