Fabrizio Romano discusses Man Utd’s alleged interest in Milan star and what his ‘priority’ is

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are not in talks with Hakan Calhanoglu who instead wants to remain at AC Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sky Italia (via MilanNews) reported last week that Calhanoglu was at Casa Milan on Tuesday. They added that there have been fruitful talks with the management trio consisting of Paolo Maldini, Ricky Massara and Ivan Gazidis about the idea of extending his stay at the club.

The story continues to take up a portion of the media headlines while the former Leverkusen man continues his recovery from a muscle issue, given his contract expires in less than four months time.

Sporting director Ricky Massara recently said the club are confident of keeping both Calhanoglu and Donnarumma beyond the end of the season, but Bild journalist Christian Falk told us late last year that there is a ’90 per cent’ chance that the former ends up at United this summer.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano on his podcast Here We Go (via R1F), there is no truth to the rumours that Manchester United are in talks over the signing of Calhanoglu.

“There are no negotiations between Man Utd and Hakan Calhanoglu, whose priority is the negotiation with Milan for the renewal. There was another meeting over the past week and Milan is getting closer to Calhanoglu’s economic demands,” he said.
